SUMMER FEST
Record Attendance At The 5th Annual Saint Anthony Hospital Summer Fest
Nearly 2,500 community members attended the 5th Annual Summer Fest at the Saint Anthony Hospital campus (19th & California) on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Attendees at this free family event had the opportunity to receive health screenings, health education materials, as well as enjoy activities such as a giant slide, entertainment, face painting, a money grab booth, and a car show. Over 1,100 children in attendance received free school bags for the upcoming year.
Saint Anthony Hospital certified staff provided screenings for diabetes, blood pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI). In addition, hundreds received information on important community services offered by Saint Anthony Hospital and other community partner organizations.
“This year’s event was our most successful to date and we view that as an indicator of our strong outreach into the neighborhoods we serve” said Guy Medaglia, President and CEO, Saint Anthony Hospital. “Our community has a choice in healthcare and we’re pleased that our neighbors trust Saint Anthony Hospital for their medical services.”
Saint Anthony holds Summer Fest each year in June; the event has continued to increase the number of vendors and attendees each year since its inception. For over one hundred years, Saint Anthony Hospital has been committed to serving its community consisting of North Lawndale, Pilsen, Little Village, Back of the Yards, Brighton Park, McKinley Park, Cicero and Berwyn. Saint Anthony is a “hospital without walls”, providing a wide variety of free bilingual community health education/outreach programs and services. Staff work with community based organizations, schools, parishes and other agencies to provide health education, early childhood and mental health services.
